SUMMARY:Women Run! Keene
DESCRIPTION:Want to see more women in elected office? Now is the time to take action! If you're thinking about running for office now or in the future\, or want to support other women who run\, Women Run is for you!\n\nJoin us for an evening of community and conversation to gain the knowledge and confidence to make a difference in your community. Hear from a panel of elected and formerly-elected women from the Monadnock region ready to share their stories\, insights\, and advice. The Keene city election filing period is open from August 20 - September 9. For information on filing deadlines\, open positions\, and City Clerk contact information\, visit our blog. Now is the time to learn how you can get involved?whether by running or by supporting women who do.\n\nWomen Run is the Granite State's only nonpartisan program empowering and training women to run for state and local office. Regardless of party\, when women serve they are more likely to support policies that benefit women and girls and are more likely to work across the aisle to reach consensus. However\, women represent only 36% of the New Hampshire Legislature. In addition\, 38% of New Hampshire towns do not have a single woman on their Select Board. And there is only ONE woman Mayor in New Hampshire.\n\nWhen women run for office\, they are just as likely to win as men\, however women are less likely to run unless they are encouraged by others. Let's change the political landscape in New Hampshire by empowering more women to run for office! Our Women Run program gives women the tools\, confidence\, and community they need to raise their hands and run\, or help other women get elected!
