The year: 1971. The place: Los Angeles’ A+M Records. An up-and-coming singer-songwriter is hard at work on her second studio album. She is visited by her friend and collaborator, who wants to introduce his new girlfriend, recording in the studio next door. The singer-songwriter? Carole King. The album? The genre-defining, 14x Platinum-selling masterpiece Tapestry. Her friend? James Taylor, fresh off his hit Sweet Baby James. And the girlfriend recording next door? Joni Mitchell, herself hard at work on her acclaimed classic, Blue. The music they each created would become the soundtrack of a generation. Abby Mueller garnered a Drama Desk Award and Grammy nomination for originating the role of Jane Seymour in the Tony Award-winning smash hit Six: The Musical on Broadway. She can be heard on the landmark Original Broadway Cast Recording Six: Live on Opening Night. After originating the role of Carole for the First National Tour of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Abby was brought back twice to reprise her critically acclaimed performance on Broadway. Other credits include Kinky Boots on Broadway and extensive regional roles. TV appearances include Evil, America’s Got Talent, The Today Show, The View, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon. Andrew Mueller is an award-winning actor who has appeared in shows Off-Broadway and across Chicagoland. Sharon Kenny writes songs and the words that go with them. She lives in New York. Kenny’s music has been prominently featured worldwide on television (Netflix, Lifetime, Amazon), most notably with five placements on the hit show, Dance Moms. Her theatre work has been produced and/or developed at New York Theatre Workshop, Manhattan Theatre Club, 92NY, Williamstown Theatre Festival, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, The Yale Institute of Music Theatre, The Institute for American Musical Theatre, and Stages Theatre Company. Sharon’s work in Children’s Theatre includes adaptations of the NY Times bestsellers What Do You Do With an Idea?, Maybe (both by Kobi Yamada), Dragons Love Tacos (by Adam Rubin), as well as commissions for 92NY (The Tempest, Mother Goose, Ice Queen, A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Additionally, Kenny serves as Musical Director to Broadway’s Abby Mueller (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Six), and the upcoming musical Rutka (Lincoln Center, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park). Ticket prices listed include service fee, and $1 of each ticket sale that goes toward our scholarship fund. Tickets are available online and at the venues on the day of the show. All shows, unless indicated, start promptly at 7:30 pm and are approximately 90 minutes long with no intermission. FREE Parking.
