Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr Community Celebration
The Park Theatre is pleased to host the 2025 Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr community celebration. The theme for 2025 is “Voting: The Heart of Democracy”. All are welcome and admission is free.
The family-friendly event will include music by the Jaffrey Grade School Chorus, student presentations, and other features. Special guest Ali Sekou will share his inspiring journey to citizenship and the right to vote. Ali Sekou grew up in a small village in Niger, immigrated and settled in New Hampshire, learned English and went on to higher education, and made history as the first New American, first African American, and first Muslim to be elected to the Concord City Council. For questions or updates write to jaffreyrindgemlk@gmail.com.
The keynote address that begins the holiday events will be delivered by voting rights and constitutional law expert Nicholas Stephanopoulos of Harvard Law School on Monday, January 20, starting at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge. A question-and-answer session will follow along with a meet-the-professor reception. This event is recommended for high school and older. Reservations are strongly advised and may be made at cathedralofthepines.org/register/.
The Jaffrey-Rindge MLK Day commemoration brings people together to celebrate shared positive values in ways that lift the spirit, enrich understanding of human experience, and sustain a hopeful outlook.
The Jaffrey-Rindge MLK Committee is grateful to Chamber members M&T Bank, Savings Bank of Walpole, and C&S Wholesale Grocers along with the Rindge Woman’s Club, and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s Putnam Foundation for their support of the Martin Luther King Jr Day programs.
