About The River Center
The River Center is a New Hampshire Family Resource Center working to strengthen families and build community connections throughout the Eastern Monadnock Region. We create welcoming spaces where children and families can learn, connect, and find support.
About the Position
The Children’s Teacher creates a safe, warm, and engaging environment for young children while their parents and caregivers participate in River Center programs.
You will lead our Child Enrichment program, using play, stories, movement, exploration, and hands-on activities to support children's social, emotional, language, cognitive, and motor development. You will also build positive relationships with families and help connect them with River Center programs and community resources.
What You'll Do
- Lead developmentally appropriate Child Enrichment activities.
- Create a joyful, inclusive environment where children feel safe and welcome.
- Support children's social and emotional development, interactions, choices, and new experiences.
- Prepare, clean, and reset children's spaces, including off-site locations.
- Prepare simple snacks and follow allergy and safety guidelines.
- Build respectful relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Share information about River Center programs and community resources.
- Communicate with River Center staff while maintaining family confidentiality.
- Follow safety, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and program planning.

What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to communicate warmly and professionally with children, families, and coworkers.
- Comfort working in an active environment with young children.
- Ability to stay calm, flexible, and supportive when needs or situations change.
- Basic computer skills.
- Willingness to learn and use the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework.
Preferred: Education or experience in early childhood, child development, human services, or a related field; CPR/First Aid; and trauma-informed or family support training.
Required: New Hampshire background checks and Mandatory Reporter training. Required program training, including Strengthening Families and ASQ/ASQ:SE, will be provided.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and comfortably sit, stand, kneel, and move in spaces designed for young children. Occasional off-site, evening, or weekend work may be required.
