Director of Development- Historical Society of Cheshire County

Location: Keene, NH

The Historical Society of Cheshire County is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to collecting, preserving and communicating the history of Cheshire County in the Monadnock Region of southwest New Hampshire. 

The Director of Development is responsible for securing funding, sponsorships, and grants for the organization. This position maintains donor relationships; establishes fundraising events; and creates, analyzes, and shares fundraising reports. 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Executive Director.  The salary for this role is $78,000 per year.  This position is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, aligned with pre-established fundraising and organizational goals. Incentive awards are not guaranteed and are determined according to the organization’s board-approved compensation policies to ensure they meet nonprofit standards for reasonable, mission-aligned compensation. 

Compensation will include retirement savings plan eligibility.  An allowance for medical insurance is provided to those who participate in the NH Center for Nonprofit’s medical plan.  

This position requires a minimum of five years experience in nonprofit fundraising and a proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts.  The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, possess the ability to work well in diverse groups, have database and spreadsheet proficiency, and is skilled with marketing and communications planning, including social media strategy.
