The Community Kitchen Driver - Part-time

Posted: 04/23/2025

The Driver is responsible for collecting food from the Food Bank and TEFAP/USDA providers weekly, using the refrigerated box truck. This responsibility may extend to other provider pick-ups as new relationships develop. This part time role requires interacting with food suppliers, operating large vehicles marked with the organization’s branding, and moving large and sometimes awkward loads of food products safely, efficiently, and hygienically around the community. When out in the community, the Driver acts as an ambassador for The Community Kitchen in the course of their duties. This position also holds responsibility for supporting the Mobile Food Pantry distributions when in season, requiring occasional Saturday work days and delivering supplies in the refrigerated truck, or van, to rural distribution sites.

Requirements include, but are not limited to, a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and to possess, or be willing and able to acquire, a DOT card.  The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly, to stand for long periods of time, to work in extreme temperatures, and to operate a pallet jack is necessary. Attention to details in the physical environment including the ability to notice and attend to unfinished tasks, opportunities to improve procedures, safety risks, broken equipment, road and weather conditions, is also necessary.

The Community Kitchen is an equal opportunity employer.
