Recreation Programmer

The City of Keene is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Recreation Programmer to join our Parks and Recreation team! This vital position plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our community by organizing, planning, marketing, and evaluating a wide range of recreational programs, events, and park facility activities.
In this role, you’ll serve as the department lead in the development and delivery of community events, specialized recreation programs, and youth, adult, and senior sports leagues. You'll also oversee group exercise classes, recreational trips, aquatics programming, and summer camps.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and overseeing daily program operations at the Recreation Center and other City facilities
- Recruiting, training, and supervising staff and volunteers across various programs
- Planning and promoting events and activities through social media and other marketing channels
- Collaborating closely with the Director and recreation specialists to support and expand program offerings

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in recreation, recreation and parks management, business management or a related field plus 3-5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination or both. A valid driver’s license is required, and First Aid, CPR, AED and Pool Operator Certifications are also required. The Parks and Recreation Professional Certification is required within 1 year and the Certified Youth Sports Administrator within 2 years.
Salary and Benefits:
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $72,149–$89,912 annually and will also receive an attractive benefits package which includes low deductible/low-cost health insurance, low-cost dental insurance, State of NH Group I retirement, and other benefits such as life insurance, disability, and paid time off. Municipal employees may also qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
