Meals on Wheels Drivers Needed in Keene!

Drive Change in Your Community: Volunteer with Meals on Wheels

Every weekday morning across Keene, something simple, but vital, happens. A warm smile on a familiar, friendly face. A nutritious meal in hand.

As Cheshire County’s Meals on Wheels provider, Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services (HCS) delivers up to 400 meals each day to older adults and individuals with disabilities who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. Meals on Wheels is about far more than nutrition. It is about connection, safety, and independence.

Volunteering with Meals on Wheels is simple, flexible, and deeply meaningful. Drivers typically commit one to two hours in the morning, picking up meals from the HCS office in Keene and delivering along a local route. Volunteers use their own vehicles, and HCS provides orientation, support, and all necessary guidance.

For those with busy schedules, even a small amount of time can make a lasting impact. Whether you volunteer once a week or fill in as needed, each route helps ensure that no one in our community is left without a meal or a friendly face.

For many recipients, the volunteer at the door may be the only person they see all day. That brief visit becomes a check-in, a conversation, and reassurance that someone cares.

This kind of care is at the heart of HCS’s mission to help people remain safe, healthy, and independent at home. Our volunteers make our mission a reality, supporting neighbors across the region in maintaining their independence while staying connected to their community.
